In his second season with the club John has made 42 appearances for the club, his performances have earned him the label of 'Mr Consistent'.

The gaffer has always said that if you’re not performing then you could be dropped for the next game which has meant everyone has had to raise their games.

This week I caught up with First Team Full Back - John 'Wilson' Leeder

You get a lot of compliments for your level of consistent performances what do you put your good solid form down to?
This is my second season at Hatfield and i have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club. I feel that I had a really good preseason and started the season a lot fitter than I have been. Also with Dougie Hale getting injured before the season started it meant that I started the season in my more favourable position this has allowed me to start the season well. With Dougie now back and Mouser starting the season well it has meant the competition of places for the full back spots has hotted up. This means i have to keep up the good performances as I could lose my spot.

What have you found different with the new manager this season?
The difference this year is the strength in depth in the squad we have as we now have competition for places. The gaffer has always said that if you’re not performing then you could be dropped for the next game which has meant everyone has had to raise their games. The gaffer has also managed to get the best out of a rejuvenated Ben Lapwood who looks like a brand new signing this year so credit must go to Steve for that.

Which player has impressed you most so far this season?
Last year we missed a striker that was there every week and that could score goals , so for Ross Long to come in and score 14 goals in 12 games has been massive for us and someone we have needed for a while so it has to be Ross. Ben hull, and Pat have also impressed me this season.

What's your best moment of the season so far?
My best moment so far has to be the Coggeshall town res game. Being 1 nil down at half time and coming back to win 2-1 shows the character the team has. It was a really good game of football and a battle that i certainly enjoyed. It also showed us that we can be up there in the top 6 of the table if we can play like that more often

What are your hopes / expectations for the season?
My hopes for the season are to finish in the top half of the table and have a good cup run. Hopefully we can then keep this group of players together and can push on for a top 4 finish next season.
