KIRKLEY & PAKEFIELD 1 HAVERHILL ROVERS 4
Haverhill made it two from two in the league, and three from three for the season so far, as they comfortably beat Kirkley away from home.
THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
They led after a quarter of an hour, Marc Abbott’s
cross field ball finding Ben Bradley
near the right side of the area; Bradley
turned his marker before pulling the ball back to Luke Haines
, who took a touch 25 yards out before curling the ball delightfully into the top left corner as if he was on the training ground, home ‘keeper Liam Bruce being left just to look and follow the ball into the net.
That was it at half time but Haverhill doubled their lead eleven minutes into the second period, Aaron Forshaw winning the ball to the left of the Kirkley area and taking it towards the D; just left of it he saw his shot blocked, which went to the right towards Bradley and he found the far bottom left corner with a left foot shot as he went away from goal.
With an hour gone the score was 3-0, Bradley’s free kick left of the area being met by Cameron Watson steaming in; he slid in at the back post to net and, after the referee had talked to his assistant, the delay in awarding the goal ended as it was given for Watson’s second goal in two games.
In the 89th minute Haverhill made it 4-0 from the penalty spot, substitute Jordan Palmer being fouled by home substitute Lewis Hammond just after he connected with away substitute Harry Halls’ cut back from just inside the area, Palmer getting up to score the spot kick himself.
Two minutes into added time the hosts grabbed a consolation in controversial circumstances, Miguel Lopez seemingly to flick a cross from the left on with his hand to the left of the penalty spot and, with almost all the players expecting the whistle to blow, Kyle Baker carried on to take advantage and pass the ball into the net first time.
