ELY CITY 1 HAVERHILL ROVERS 1
Ely netted for the sixth game in a row, the last time they hadn’t was in the reverse of this fixture, but the single goal wasn’t enough as Haverhill equalised, although it meant the away side had recorded two wins in their last sixteen.

The hosts lost Jonathan Brown with a knee injury after 22 minutes and, after Nick Heap had shot just wide of the far left post, they almost went a goal behind themselves with 40 minutes gone, Luke Haines’
cross field diagonal ball finding Mitchell Burr
on the opposite wing; Burr
came inside from the left before returning the ball into Haines’
path after his 50 yard run, the latter’s curling first time effort going round goalkeeper Harry Reynolds but hitting the left hand upright.
Ely led with a goal in the 44th minute, James Seymour winning the ball on the edge of the area in a battle with Sam Holmes, the ball being squared to Sam Goodge 20 yards out and he controlled it before his effort took a wicked deflection off Holmes and past ‘keeper Charlie Turner.
It wasn’t until the 71st minute that Haverhill were level again, with the last decent chance of the game, and it had a slight amount of fortune to it, Haines’ cross to the far post headed back away from goal to Burr, who controlled it 15 yards out and left of goal before shooting, Reynolds going down to save quickly, misjudging the bounce of the ball and it came off his body and looped into the bottom left corner of the net.
