Newmarket Town v Haverhill Rovers
Three goals in eleven minutes in the second half killed off this game for Haverhill with a score line that flattered Newmarket.
Injuries cost both sides early on, Haverhill losing midfielder Marcus Hunt with a torn calf in the warm up and Newmarket having defender Scott Paterson substituted on 14 minutes with a cut under his chin that required stitches.
The hosts took the lead on 32 minutes via a controlled cross from the left, former Haverhill winger Jack Higgs rising for a far post header that went into the same top corner of the net.
This was cancelled out 6 minutes later, Marc Abbott's corner putting goalkeeper Niall Conroy under pressure, the ball becoming loose and hitting the back of a defender before rolling into the bottom left corner.
After Ross Paterson hit the away bar and then the near right post in two different situations in the 55th minute the hosts went ahead again in the 58th, Higgs' turn and volley just inside the right corner of the area leaving 'keeper Jamie Greygoose with no chance of a save at his near post.
The score was 3-1 in the 67th minute, Higgs' corner on the right dropped by Greygoose at the near post and Matty Bonner eventually bundled the ball over the line.
Two minutes later the final goal was netted, Paterson this time finding the mark after he played a one-two with Higgs and made room for himself before putting a shot low, in the other direction and past Greygoose.
