Hawkins lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a wet and unpredictable pitch. The outfield gave very little value for shots to the batsmen and that coupled with the way the pitch was playing led to a very difficult innings for Hawkins.

Most batsmen fell before scoring or reaching double figures. The only knocks of any note Jonny Cornfield 19 and Kas Kasim reaching 20 n.o in quick time hitting a couple of excellent straight 6's.

Having only fielded 10 men due to a certain nameless captain pinching a player at 13:05:), Kas had no one to stay with him and Hawkins were all out for 72.

The Springhill innings started steadily but a succession of quick wickets looked like the game maybe miraculously turning Hawkins way. however a steadying partnership between Hudson (11) and Palmer (8) saw Springhill edge closer to the finishing line.

They finally reached 73 with 3 wickets remaining intact taking 31 overs to get there.

20 more runs for Hawkins may have been enough in this low scoring game and the bowling attack showed this level isnt beyond them, the batsmen just need to catch up.

Onwards and upwards
