Hayle enjoyed much of the territory and possession in this fast-paced encounter played in bright sunshine at the Memorial Park, but it was the visitors who scored first when wing Charlie Furnival chased up well following a defensive error in the home 22 after just five minutes of play. The home forwards were dominant in the set pieces and after a long period of pressure Hayle flanker Joji Volaifaya crossed for a try, which fly-half Jamie Prisk converted to take the lead at 7-5. Tavistock hit back against the run of play when hooker Lloyd James burrowed over for a try, converted by fly-half Richard Goldsby-West to edge in front at 7-12, but Prisk slotted a penalty for Hayle to close the gap to 10-12 at the interval. Hayle pressure resulted in two further penalty goals for Prisk, and the home side enjoyed a 16-12 lead with 70 minutes on the clock. Tavistock then scored a brace of tries in the last ten minutes by flanker Duncan Lloyd and centre Ross Batten, one of which was converted by Goldsby-West to claim a hard-won 16-24 win and maintain second place in the league table.
