After much reflection, Heath 1st & 2nd XV are consolidating this season to create a single squad...

and are setting out to bring back that winning feeling to the Club tomorrow (13th September) with their first match against Heathfield.
The decision to withdraw Haywards Heath RFC from the London 2 South East League has not been taken lightly by the Board but player numbers and the availability of players in key positions, particularly the front row, meant that the Club had no choice but to be pragmatic before the season started.

After considering all the available options, it has been agreed by the Board and players alike that joining forces in this way gives us an opportunity to restore pride and enjoyment to senior rugby, aspects of the game that are so important. The last couple of seasons have been tough for players and supporters alike and while it is not all about winning, it is clear that enthusiasm and commitment wanes when momentum is against you.

So it is with real optimism that we look forward in all senses of the word to the coming season and are targeting a fast bounce back by winning the Sussex Intermediate League in 2014/15 and future success with consecutive league titles to restore us to London 3 within two years. And of course high on our priorities is a strong run in the Sussex Cup Competition which is certain to throw up some mouth-watering encounters on the pitch. We are in good company in pursuing this path, other rugby clubs including London Scottish and Richmond have found a need to step back and regroup in order to grow and thrive on the pitch.

We hope that we can count on the support of all Club members on the touchline over the coming weeks – kick off tomorrow is at Heathfield at 3pm and a large contingent of Heath supporters are expected so if you are free and able to travel please come along and show your support. Together we can show the players that everyone is behind them as they set off on the road to bring back winning ways to senior rugby at Heath.
