FORMER HEATH COLT JOE MARLER MAKES ENGLAND DEBUT IN SOUTH AFRICA
Former Heath Colt, Quins' Joe Marler, takes the field tomorrow in Durban to win his first full England cap.
It's been a great season for Joe - still only 21 - in which he's been a prominent member of the Premiership-winning Quins squad and impressed as his scrummaging skills have progressed immensely. Joe's now a real force to reckon with in both tight piece and around the field. We'll all look forward to watching his tough battle against the Boks tight head, Jannie du Plessis - and to England maintaining their winning momentum.
It seems a far cry from watching Joe propping for the Colts or at number 8 for the 2nd XV when, at 17, he was too young to play in a senior front row! We'll hope to see Joe's shirt on the clubhouse wall next to those of Roy Winters (also for England against South Africa) and Ben Broster (for Wales in the USA/Canada). Maybe Joe will be at our Quins Summer Camp in July/August?
