U6 2017/2018 Training
Welcome to the U6 homepage! Hopefully you will find the information you need here to help you introduce your child to the great sport that is Rugby at HHRFC.
The U6 training is for both boys and girls that are currently in reception or year 1 at school. Our main aim, as a group of coaches, is to start to introduce your child to a range of skills that will help form the foundation for future success and enjoyment in Rugby and other sports. We really try to do this in a fun and engaging way that is inclusive of all children, independent of their current skill level, through a mixture of games and drills.
The current coaching team is made up of 7 coaches with a range of coaching, playing and teaching experience overseen by my self, Ash Ross. All coaches undergo DBS checks, as child safety is a key priority for the club.
Training takes place every Sunday in front of the clubhouse between 10 and 11. During the wetter months we have access to the 3g pitch at Warden Park, which we will notify parents of in advance.
Parents will have to fill in a player registration form for their child, so please arrive a few minutes early to complete this. Each child gets 2 free taster sessions before deciding if they want to join. The cost is £130 for the full year.
Kit wise, there is no official team strip for the U6s; and therefore no purchase requirements. All your child needs is suitable training kit for the weather. We really recommend that you do get your child a decent pair of gloves for when it gets a bit colder. In terms of footwear, rugby boots or mouldeds are great (just no blades due to risk of injury). Please bear in mind that when we use the 3g pitch the children will need to have moulded boots.
If you’re interested in purchasing any Heath-branded gear – then there is some brand new minis-kit, which is being sold in the Clubhouse every Sunday. These are at lower prices than available for individual purchases on the website. The kit design/livery is one that’s been settled on for the next three seasons. So, sizing apart, there should be longevity in the kit.
Other kit (warm tops; rainproof tops; trackie bottoms, etc.) can be bought through the club’s online shop – following the link on the club’s home website page.
Please don’t feel as though you have to spend a lot of money on kit, there is a wide range of second hand gear in the club for very reasonable prices.
If you do have any further questions please feel free to get in touch.
We really do look forward to welcoming you to the club
