Good fun game result didn't matter
Headingley turned up to a friendly t20 relieved to be playing something that wasn't a league game or cup match. Skipper Saunders won the toss and batted, opting for all out attack from Pagey and Smyth. Pagey strangled himself down leg and Whickers poked a full ball to depart quickly. 7-2 off 5 overs wasnt the ideal start. However, Rob and Knighty got things ticking over with 17 in the next 2 overs before both departed quickly with the score on 24 and 25. Clifton was in no mood to be bogged down and crashed a quickfire 36 including two sixes into the road in one over. After Will's retirement, Dave Downham and Matt Kermode had a good partnership of 40 in 6 overs against some decent pace bowling from Sohail and Robinson. Headingley closed on 112-5 off 20.
Skipper decided to tease Sohail with Bindman projectiles and the scoring rate was kept in check. It was only when Shiru came on that a wicket fell. Sohail pulling a long hop right off the middle but finding Steve "the cat" Bindman at midwicket. Other than that, not much else happened for a while. Pagey got smacked around, Mantooth didn't fare much better but did at least pick up a wicket. Skipper and Clifton picked up 1 bowled each. DLA eased there way towards the target thanks to some field placing designed to leak runs and bowling to match. At the end Matt Kermode picked up a wicket and Rob Smyth got an LBW on the 8th bounce. We bowled our full 20 and they got 129-7.
Everybody enjoyed a bit of a release after all the big games and nobody took it seriously. Thanks again to DLA for being great hosts.
Pizza was good :-)
