| Winterbourne United | 3 | vs | 1 | Headington Amateurs |
Winterbourne United 3 - 1 Headington Amateurs
Missed opportunities in the first half cost Headington dear, only a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Harry Jenkins keeping them in the game.
A sloppy start saw Headington fall behind after 9 minutes as Liam Barrett drove home from inside the penalty area after Headington twice failed to clear following a corner kick. It could have been worse as Tommy Allen conceded a penalty just three minutes later, Ben Dowdell hitting a post with his spot kick. From then on the Amateurs took charge of the game, pinning the home side back with some fluent football. Aftab Hafiz, Luke Cuff & Aaron Williams all had efforts that were off target with Shaun Jacob unable to convert the best of their chances from close range. With half time approaching Jack Pitcher missed a golden opportunity to extend Winterbourne's lead before Dowdell broke away & lobbed the advancing Jenkins to make it 2-0 at the break
Half time 2 - 0
The second half was a different story as Winterbourne took control, Headington's passing game ineffectual as their goal came under siege. Jenkins pulled off save after save to keep Headington in the game & after 74 minutes Jacob appeared to have given them a toe hold in the match, finishing slickly from close range after a storming run from his own half by Craig Morbey. However, any hopes they had of salvaging a point were dashed when they conceded a second penalty five minutes from time. Jack Pitcher converted to secure the points for Winterbourne.
