Defeat at Buxton FC

Heanor Town Development Squad finished there 36th game of the season last night with a 2-0 defeat away to Buxton FC. The Squad who play in both the Reserve Supreme League and the North Midlands Under 21 League played some great football on the night but failed to create enough chances to make their opposition pay. At one point the young lions strung a sequence of 18 passes without losing possession in what was a frustrating evening.

" The performance tonight at times was some of the best football I've seen us play all season, however we struggled around the box and lacked a few forward players on the night. Its a tough place to come and play and to play like we did against a EVO Stick Premier League U21 side was impressive. We had some superb individual performances, Jake Johnson who continues to impress, along with Josh Craddock, dictated the Midfield in the 2nd half of the game. Josh has a bright future after coming back from an Injury that has kept him out for 5 months, at 16 he shows great composure and plays well above his age. Jake at just 19 is more than ready to make the step up to senior football, he's strong and has a range of passing along with a quick change of pace, i am sure he will be knocking on the first team door very soon. Bower, Riley, Palmer, Charlton, Coupe all having good solid performances tonight. The Whole 14 that travelled to be fair played well. "

The Development Squad now are forced to play 2 games in 2 days next week. On Tuesday night they take on Graham St Prims (Res) at Home and then 24 Hours Later AFC Mansfield at Home in the U21 League.

" Its ridiculous to be honest we have had blank Saturdays for weeks yet now we are playing 2 games in 2 days?? We did that 2 weeks ago and its no fun!! Its hard to rotate the squad with commitments etc and the risk of injuries. We obviously entered both leagues for a purpose, to play weekends and another league to play midweek. We have to deal with it and hope the teams we put out are competive enough and injury free"
