Lions prepare for 2015/16 with positive news

The news that Heanor Town FC have been moved from the Northern Counties East League Premier Division to the Midland League Premier Division has been met with a happy response from club officials.
Trips to Bridlington and Pickering will be no more, the trek across Yorkshire and North Derbyshire will not be missed by any at the club - instead The Lions have trips to Hereford (former football league club) and local sides such as Dunkirk FC, Long Eaton United, Shepshed Dynamo and Quorn. The Midland League Premier Division names clubs such as AFC Wulfrunians, Coleshill Town and Kirby Muxloe, all teams that Heanor have beat in The FA Vase over the past two seasons.

Fixtures will be announced in due course.

Manager Glen Clarence said; “I’m happy that we finally know where we are going. Preparations have been hard because we didn’t know where we will be playing next season. I think it is a good move for the club, obviously we have less travelling. It is a league we are excited about joining and we will go in to the new season positive that we can be a force.”

Scott Ward, General Manager, added; “We are looking forward to a new adventure. We are looking forward to meeting new people and visiting new grounds. This is an exciting time for Heanor Town FC as we move to The Midland League. Thanks has to go to the NCEL and all the member clubs who have given us a welcome wherever we've been”
