Last game of the season
What went wrong!
A perfect day for playing footie greeted the Hawks as they travelled to Derby city almost in the shadow of Pride Park.
Was it end of season fatigue? Was it some skilled resource coming back to the Normanton fold?
Whatever it was the Hawks were below par and in the first half struggled to get or keep possession and had few chances up front.
As the first half ended the Hawks were two behind with the score at 3-1 to Normanton.
Nothing that a spirited comeback in the second half couldn't overcome.
Alas it was not to be and as the second half wore on the Hawks could do little to overcome the rising enthusiasm of Normanton to get on the score sheet.
The final straw came with a free kick on the edge of the area, kicked directly at the wall for it to part like the Red Sea and into the net for an eighth time.
Plenty of simple errors all round and a lack of sharp ball handling skills means that there is plenty to overcome for next season and plenty of hard training required.
A few extra players and some new blood will hopefully be available to spice up the attack.
However the Hawks came a strong third in the league overall and could have gone further in the cup if they hadn't met league champions Hilton in their first game.
Well done everyone for a good performance overall this year.
