Cheadle Hulme turned up ready to play and were superior in numbers boasting a squad of twelve to our 9, it soon became apparent that HMG were not going to let superior numbers and last weekend defeat influence this weekend’s performance and they ran out convincing 14 – 5 winners.
The frost from the night before had turned the ground hard and was making picking the floor balls up difficult, but after a few attempts and some good technique both teams adapted to the conditions.
The first quarter saw a couple of goals from both teams but as the second began HMG began to pull away, and with stellar performances from George and Matt in defence the ball was soon making its way up field and hitting the back of the net with regular occurrence.
The midfield in Jordan, Oliver and James fought extremely hard for the whole game which without substitutes is no mean feat, whilst Morgan in attack found space on the right to put away a couple of goals and both our new players Charlotte and Bradley finding the goal HMG had built up a comfortable lead.
As the fourth quarter began Henry arrived from his football training and kitted up ready to play so we quickly switched to 10 a side game. We soon realised that every field player apart from Henry had scored so every effort was made to get him the ball in front of the net… we didn’t have to wait long and after a few great saves from the Cheadle Hulme keeper Henry scored and we had completed our first game where every member of the team had scored. This weekend also saw Lewis return to the Goal much to the relief of the rest of the team who were preparing to draw straws on whose turn it would be this week, and as usual Lewis pulled off some great saves, and accurate clears up field, this weekend really was a pleasure to watch WELL DONE BOYS!!!!
This weekend also saw a depleted HMG men travel to Chester, a team they had beaten earlier in the season. Despite the short numbers HMG ran out convincing winners scoring 19 goals to Chester’s 4. It is at this point worth mentioning that Under 12s coach Craig played his first ever game of competitive lacrosse… all accounts state that he played well and enjoyed the experience although whether he will be making this a regular thing is still up for discussion!!!!
