England Hockey U14 National Cup North League 1
| Heaton with Oxcliffe Hockey Club | 1 | vs | 3 | Kirkby Stephen |
HEATON WITH OXCLIFFE HOCKEY CLUB MAKE NORTH FINALS IN FIRST SEASON!
Heaton with Oxcliffe 1 Kirkby Stephen 3
Heaton went into their final game of the regional league playing with confidence. The team had progressed game on game in the league and were keen to put up a good fight against a strong and well organised Kirkby side. Heaton took the lead just before half time after a strong penalty corner strike from Dorrington took a deflection into the Kirkby goal. Heaton were urged to defend their lead at the half time team talk but the fatigue from two consecutive games began to take its toll. The whole team battled hard to keep possession of the ball, but Kirkby continued to attack the Heaton defence to pull the game back for a 3-1 victory.
In the clubs first season Heaton with Oxcliffe’s under 14 squad finished third in north league one and with this qualified for the finals of the cup. The finals are played as eight regional finals across the country. Heaton will face the City of York, Lytham and Alderley Edge on the 1st April at Timperley HC in the North National Final of the U14 Cup. Training takes place at Salt Ayre Sports Centre on Fridays 7-8pm. New players always welcome.
Squad: Harrison ©, B Clelland, M Clelland, E Dorrington, Y King, N Hughes, R Walsh, A Howard, J Richardson, C King, K Kowalska, A Phipps, L Dixon, G Knowles, S Mallinson, J Booth, B Baldwin, A Haygarth.
