Following in the footsteps of Alex Murphy, Willie John McBride, Phil Bennett, Gareth Chilcott, Jonathan Davies, John Bentley, Robbie Paul, Mark Regan, Mark Cueto, Barrie McDermott and many more, to bring the curtain down on our 2017-18 season, we are proud to confirm that our guest speaker at this year's Annual Dinner will be none other than Wigan and Great Britain Rugby League Legend and current Assistant Coach to Wales...Shaun Edwards!
Having signed for Wigan on his 17th birthday, Edwards would go on to become the most decorated player in Rugby League history. A key member of the great Wigan side of the '80s and '90s, Edwards was an ever-present in the team that won the RL Challenge Cup an incredible eight seasons in a row, also winning eight League Championships with his home town club and representing Great Britain 36 times.
Hanging up is boots as a player, he began his coaching career in Rugby Union with London Wasps, helping them to win the English Rugby Union Championship three times in succession, in 2003, 2004 and 2005 in addition to the Heineken Cup in 2004 and 2007. Subsequently joining the Wales coaching team, Edwards has since helped the nation to Grand Slam success in 2008 and 2012, a World Cup Semi-final in 2011 and an RBS Six Nations title in 2013. He was named Rugby World International Coach of the Year in 2008 and was defence coach for the British and Irish Lions on their tour of South Africa in 2009.

The price includes a three-course meal and the evening will include presentation of the Helsby RUFC Player Awards for 2017-18.
