The Tudors made it three victories in a row as Bill Morgan’s late goal saw off Banbury at Vauxhall Road.
The deadlock was broken in the 16th minute when Marquin Smith was the first to react to Charlie Gorman’s header and at the second attempt, managed to poke home from close range.
The home side were looking very creative going forward and had chances to double the lead however Dave Pearce was denied twice in the half by Andy Kemp.
Half Time: Hemel Town 1-0 Banbury United
The Puritans looked for a reaction after the break and nearly equalised early on however Simeon Williams’ effort was well wide.
Offensive chances continued to fall for Town as Pearce had a couple more efforts however failed to work Kemp.
However after not showing much in attack, the away side were gifted a goal. Tudors keeper Ross Kitteridge’s poor goal-kick fell straight to Rick Johnston who raced clear and slotted home.
Minutes later Johnston nearly had a second but for a brilliant block from Bill Morgan as the ball seemed destined for the net.
As the game looked to be heading for a draw, the crucial winner was scored. Dave Pearce’s corner was controlled well by Ellis Remy and then crossed to Morgan who was first to pounce and fire home.
