Henley Hawks travel to Lydney aiming to build on the two victories over Dorking and Chinnor which has placed them third in National Two South.

Having started the season with a side that has quickly settled and played some very good rugby in the first half against Chinnor the Hawks will be hoping to field an unchanged team at Lydney. There was one late addition for the game against Chinnor. This was at hooker when there was a late signing of Stuart Philpott. An experienced player he started senior rugby at Ulster where he advanced from the Academy there to graduate becoming a member of the senior squad . Subsequently he played for Birmingham and captained the club in thr Championship . Piers O'Connor was not available for selection as he has joined the England Sevens squad probably for the next two weeks. James Comben is still out with the ankle injury he collected against Dorking.

Over the years the Hawks have had many close games with Lydney particularly at their Regentsholme ground. Last season the teams did not meet as the Hawks had been promoted to Division 1 whilst Lydney were playing in Division 3 ( South West). Relegation to that league was a low point in the history of a club founded in 1887 and for long the leading club in the Forest of Dean. Over the years they have had many players in the Gloucestershire county side one of the strongest sides in the County Championship in it's hey day.

The Lydney coach is Duncan Bell the former Bath and England prop After the disappointment of relegation they turned the team round to get an immediate return to Division 2 (South) which has been their home for several seasons This year they have retained most of their squad but have a new half-back partnership. Their fly half Brad Barnes has moved over from Cljfton and is now their principal goal kicker. They also have at scrum-half Eamonn Rees a nippy scrum-half who scored two tries in quick succession last week against Dings which nearly brought them a good victory away from home.
