BYCL League Rules & Conditions U12
The new youth cricket season is upon us. Just a few things to bring to you attention!
1. Reporting of results. As I am sure you are aware if you attended the BYCL AGM the league is clamping down on the the re-arrangement of fixtures with the exception of weather.
‘All fixtures shall be played on the nominated date only, except where weather intervenes to cause the game to be cancelled or abandoned, and then the home and away clubs have 72 hours to arrange and inform the Results Secretary of the new date for the game to be replayed. If the results Secretary is not informed within the specified time scale the match will be deemed as cancelled.
If weather intervenes on the re-arranged fixture date then the match will be deemed as cancelled and no further re-arrangement of that fixture will be allowed.
If a match is to be cancelled there needs to be a conversation between the two teams ideally by telephone. If there is no conversation, it is to be assumed the fixture is on.’
2. Results secretaries. This year we are extremely grateful to have in position a results Secretary for both the North and South.
a. North. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking Gary Waghorn from Biggleswade cricket Club who has very kindly offered to take this role on. Should you wish to contact him his email address is gary.waghorn@ntlworld.com
b. South. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking Derek Gower for kindly offering to continue with this role that he has carried out now for a number of years. Should you wish to contact Derek his email address has changed recently and it is derek.j.gower@gmail.com
3. Player Eligibility
i) The Leagues shall be limited to players under the appropriate age group as at midnight on the 31 August prior to the season, e.g. aged 9 or under on 31 August 2011 for the 2012 Under 10 season.
2009 AGM: girls may be up to two years older; discretion required.
ii) A player can only play for one club in the League.
iii) All players shall be made available for County representative fixtures ahead of club games.
iv) In the event of a County Coach/County Development Officer request a player shall be rested by his club/not bowled if the player is likely to exceed the ECB fast bowling directives.
v) In accordance with law 1.2 each manager shall nominate his/her players in writing to the other manager before the toss, with two printed names for each player. The signed sheet then to go to the opposition scorer.
vi) All players are registered with their Club play-cricket website and entered on the website with their respective squad in the format Forename/Surname.
Team cards were distributed at the AGM but should you require more there is a supply in the Bedfordshire Cricket Office.
4. Results notification
i) The winning team (or the home team in the event of a tie) are responsible for the input of the result and scorecards to their Club Play-Cricket website within 72 Hours. These results will be locked down by the relevant result secretary after 72 hours.
ii) In the event of a cancelled /abandoned game the home side is responsible for reporting the result to the relevant League Results Secretary. As required in rule 10 ii) below the agreed rescheduled date for the fixture must be notified at the same time. The Results Secretaries can be contacted as follows: North. iii) Failure to notify the result within the above mentioned timescale would result in no points being awarded to either team.
5. Sunday fixtures
Under 10 and Under 12 County and Development league fixtures to be played on a Sunday except in the case where a Club would prefer to avoid a Sunday in preference of a Saturday.
