Hermes raced to a three goal half time lead with counters by MICHAEL SMITH (1) and STEPHEN JACK (10, 45).

Second half sub DAVID WILSON made an immediate impact with a whirlwind hat-trick in 47, 51 and 53 minutes, drawing the home side level.

Hermes replied with another three goal burst, as JACK's hat-trick was completed in 73 minutes, the goal being sandwiched between a MICHAEL DAWSON brace in 70 and 76 minutes.

A long quiet spell ensued as Hermes seemed content to sit on their lead and see the game out.

However that man WILSON had different ideas and in the 90th minutes his fourth goal saw the home side cut the deficit to two goals.

With the game deep into injury time PHILIP WOODGREAVES got his name on the scoresheet with Stoneywood's fifth goal but the ref blew for time with Hermes hanging on for the narrowest of victories.
