Underfoot and overhead conditions were absolutely dreadful for this McBookie Superleague match at Pleasure Park, Maud.

However the teams contrived to produce a most entertaining contest with a feast of goals.

Hermes opened the scoring in 15 minutes, having already scorned two excellent chances through Courage and McKenzie, when keeper Sweeney fired a clearance 80 yards, right to the foot of MICHAEL DAWSON who lifted the ball over the onrushing Fyfe into the empty net.

ANDREW COURAGE was next to strike in 28 minutes after good build up play by Cruickshank.

As half time approached, Hermes extended their lead when DAWSON rounded off another passing move to give the visitors a healthy 3-0 lead at the interval.

Half-time: Maud 0-3 Hermes

Maud were fired up at the start of the second half and they were rewarded in 54 minutes with a SEAN BREMNER goal – 1-3.

Within 10 minutes, however, Hermes restored their three goal cushion through CALLUM INNES -1-4.

After a further 10 minutes the home side fought back with a GRANT THOMSON goal – 2-4.

Right from the restart Hermes pulled away again with DAWSON converting a pin point cross by Close to make it 2-5.

A rush of goals in the last ten minutes, by RYAN SMART (3-5) and then a COURAGE double ( 3-6 and finally 3-7) completed the scoring in an amazing match.

Full-time: Maud 3-7 Hermes

Both sets of players are to be commended for producing some excellent play under extremely challenging conditions.

Eventually Maud could not cope with the creativity and pace of the Hermes midfield and forwards and the Bridge of Don side ran out comfortable winners.

Man of the Match: Joint winners – Michael Dawson and Andrew Courage for their hat-trick heroics, but they would be the first to admit that they were ably supported by all their team-mates.
