Peter Guise previews the week ahead for Herne Bay Football Club.

Matches scheduled for week commencing Saturday 20th December 2014.

The weather may play a significant part in this week’s matches. Watch out for announcements of games on or off.

First XI

Big Match Event Day at Winch’s Field this Saturday with the visit of lowly Hastings United for the final game before Christmas for the First X1. Hastings are an enigmatic side with many wondering what has happened to herald the club’s decline. Last season they were favourites to bounce straight back to the Ryman Premier. They were off that mark and this season they are in the wrong half of the table and, some would point out, in danger of sliding out of the Ryman League all together. There is no such thing as being too big a club to go down.

The match also forms part of Herne Bay FC’s celebrations of the Christmas Truce 1914 Football Remembers commemorations and there is a special (not that they aren’t all special) programmes produced by Herne Bay FC’s Programme Editor.

KO at Winch’s Field: Herne Bay v Hastings United is 3 pm

On Friday it’s the much awaited and anticipated Boxing Day Derby when Bay travel a few miles down the road to take on the Oystermen. Bay have already won there once this term, that was in the League Cup, this is the league, this is Boxing Day and this is special in the hearts of all Bay supporters.

KO at The Belmont: Whitstable Town v Herne Bay is 3 pm

U21s

The U21s are taking a break over Christmas and The New Year.

U18s

The u18s will be playing only their fifth Kent Youth League match on Sunday when they travel to The Gallagher to play Maidstone United on the 3G surface. Cup exploits have meant, for the second year running, the league programme has taken a back seat.

KO at The Gallagher Stadium: Maidstone United u18s v Herne Bay u18s is 11:00 am

Ladies

The Ladies are taking a well earned break preparing for what could be a crucial 2nd half of the current campaign.

At this time of year the weather plays a significant part in the scheduling of matches and any last minute changes will be posted via Social Media (see below) – there will not always be a separate article on the website.
