Vol II Issue XXIV

Peter Guise previews the week ahead for Herne Bay Football Club.

Matches scheduled for week commencing Saturday 16th January 2016.

First XI

Back to winning ways and back on the bus as the team heads to the banks of the Thames to take on Walton & Hersham in search of more play-off points. Denly’s team have won 5 of their last eight away matches and sit 5th in the table whilst Walton & Hersham have lost 6 of their last eight home games and are just one place off the drop zone.

KO at Stompond Lane: Walton & Hersham v Herne Bay, Ryman One South, Saturday 16th January 2016, is 3:00 PM

Then on Tuesday evening there’s more league action on the road as Bay travel to Chatham Town in a rearranged fixture. Chatham were soundly beaten by Bay a few weeks ago in their own back yard in the Kent Senior Cup.

KO at Maidstone Road: Chatham Town v Herne Bay, Ryman One South, Tuesday 19th January 2016, is 7:45 PM

U21s

The U21s fixtures have fallen foul of the weather of late but this Wednesday sees the scheduled visit of Leatherhead.

KO at The Altira Park Stadium, Winch’s Field: Herne Bay U21s v Leatherhead U21s, Ryman U21 South League, Wednesday 20th January 2016, is 7:45 PM.

U18s

The U18s finally return to league action this Sunday after their winter break with an away tie against the youth of Hythe.

KO at South Road: Hythe Town U18s v Herne Bay U18s, Kent Youth League, is 11:15 AM.

Ladies

The Ladies are back in the groove after trouncing Carshalton last Sunday and now have a chance to reach the Kent FA Women’s Cup Final for the first time. Meridian of the SECWFL (Premier) are the visitors to The Field of Dreams for the semi-final this Sunday. Victory would keep up the Ladies record of appearing in a Cup Final (and they have never lost in a Final) every season since the team was reformed four years ago. A bumper 4 page programme is being produced by the Supporters Association for this game.

KO at The Altira Park Stadium, Winch’s Field: Herne Bay Ladies v Meridian, Kent FA Women’s Cup Semi-Final, Sunday 17th January 2016, is 2:30 PM

We are now getting into the time of year when the weather can play a significant part in whether fixtures go ahead as planned. Check the various social media sites (see below) before you travel if in any doubt.
