HBFC WALKING FOOTBALL NEWS

On Saturday 16th June Herne Bay's Walking Football team represented Gillingham FC in the Final of the EFL Trust Cup. The matches were played over 10 minutes each at the very impressive Aston Villa FC Training Complex in Birmingham. In temperatures reaching close to 30 degrees the teams of Over 50's put on a great display of walking football.

Gillingham FC were linked in a group with Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers. Kidderminster Harriers and Dagenham & Redbridge. In the other group were Colchester United, Blackpool, Bradford City, Notts County, Cheltenham Town and Luton Town.

All of their group matches we very close with Gillingham winning 2 and losing 3 to finish 4th in the group. They beat Dagenham & Redbridge and Plymouth Argyle 1 - 0. however lost to the other teams by the same score. Hence they did not qualify for the semi-finals. Sheffield United and Kidderminster Harriers finally won through to the fina, but as the final was delayed, at the time of writing the result was not known. It will be advised later.
