Tomorrow sees the 1st XV host Sutton and Epsom RFC who sit three places below us in the league but a closer look at their results shows they are one of the form teams in the league.
As well as being the only side to beat league leaders Barnes, their 3 losses have all been by small margins and to good sides. A good game in prospect then!

We did the double over them last season but history counts for nothing in this league and they are establishing themselves as a good competitive outfit.

After our early season woes in the front row we have some stability and youth and we wish Hooker Chris Joyce all the best for his first start.

In ‘the row’ we see James Kingsley , a familiar face at Hoe Lane whom you are more likely to recall as a centre or back row in recent seasons. James has impressed greatly in recent weeks and has worked hard at maintaining his explosive dynamism whilst adding the extra bulk needed in the engine room. Talk in the changing room is that he’s had more positions than the Karmsutra!

Hard choices in the centre with Smarty, Aaron and Streets all playing well and any 2 from 3 will do.

Looking at the rest there is a good mix of youth and experience and all will need to be on their game because if you look at the 2nd XV this week you see the likes of Corcoran, Elsdon, JP, Sargent and Seymour , all more than capable of slotting straight into the 1’s. ….. Good times.

The 2’s will have a equally tough task as they entertain Redingensians who sit one below our table topping 2’s but are unbeaten with two games in hand. This should be a real test for both sides and worth a little look me thinks.

The hoes travel to table topping Ampthill looking for a big team performance whilst the Termites can have a lie in and prepare to host OA’s at Hoe Lane.

….And finally…… getting away from rugby for a minute, huge congrats to 2 ex young players, Lois Gentle and Charlie Sutton who won Gold and Bronze Medals respectively in the World Rafting Championships recently. Lois is Granddaughter of former President Charles Stringer and Charlie played in our youth teams up until a couple of years ago. Well done to both of them.
