Mike played for Hertford RFC and for Hertford Cricket club whilst teaching at Haileybury in the 90's. He was a quick and talented New Zealander who later played for Tunbridge Wells RFC as well.

Mike was Head of History and Sport and at Ashdown House Prep School in East Sussex and was one of the schools longest serving members of staff.

His sudden and untimely death, aged just 52, occurred whilst doing his duty and marking out the school cricket pitches.
