Training for the next 2 weeks, more squad recruitment needed

Fullerians 10-23
Another bright and warm morning and another strong performance from the mixed A/B U14 squad this weekend with Hertford running out worthy winners against Fullerians 10-23 on Sunday, two tries scored wide with touchline sprints from Lewis Broom and William Howell and two brutal forward charges provided tries for Jack Davy and George Giblett. Finley Morgan kicked a penalty to guarantee the win.

This week
Training will be on Wednesday 18th at Hoe Lane on the training pitch between 6.30 and 8.00pm - Torran MacDougal will be leading the session again. Worth noting that I saw Torran's work on tackling/defending in 3s come through on Sunday in a much improved defensive performance, I make no apologies for continuing with this focus. Stevenage will not be joining us

On Saturday 21st Hertford 1st Team play Sutton and Epsom RFC at Hoe Lane, kicking off at 3pm

Training on Sunday 22nd will be at Hoe Lane running from 10:00-12:00am. If we have sufficient numbers we'll run a fun 7-a-side tournament for at least part of the session, please let me know if your son is training so that I can plan that bit of the session well. Stevenage will not be joining us

w/c 23rd October
Given that numbers will be low for the half-term break and that it's been a full-on first half of term with club and school rugby there will be NO training on Weds 25th October, so enjoy the rest!

Training will resume on Sunday 29th October at Hoe Lane 10:00-12:00 - don't forget you get a 1hr lie-in as British Summertime ends

w/c 30th October

Training will be on Wednesday at Stevenage on Wednesday November 1st

On Friday 3rd November 7-9pm a local Scout Group will be trying out rugby, with a view to encouraging new membership at the club, I'd like some player volunteers to assist me as 7 of the Scouts are potential U14 recruits and my objective remains at getting the Herford playing squad up to 40 players over the course of the season. Please let me know if your son is available to assist.

On Sunday 5th November the A team faces Datchworth at Hoe Lane and the Stevenage/Hertford B Team face Bishop's Stortford B at Stevenage.

Player Recruitment
We've done well recruiting 5 new players so far with Shakir Millais, Max Oates, Reece Maskall, Oliver Stead and Toby Sinclair all turning out regularly for the club now and the squad is up to 32. If, between existing players dragging their mates along and the scouts, we can find another 6-8 players we'll be in a really strong position going forward.

It's worth pointing out that while we're working closely and effectively with Stevenage RFC U14 ,their ultimate goal is to form a squad of their own, so we can't rely on their (very welcome) help and must keep the recruitment push alive.
