Hesketh Bank suffered a 4th defeat in a row after Garstang ran out 4-2 winners. Reserves won 4-0 at home to Haslingden St. Mary's.

Saturday 29th August 2015 West Lancashire League Premier Division

GARSTANG 4
HESKETH BANK 2

Team: Stuart Singleton, Radoslav Ivanov, Josh Roberts, Tony Sergeant, James Green, Lewis Saunders, Josh Brierley, Jamie Johnson, Daniel Birkby, David Hogg, John Stead. Sub: (Not Used) Wiktor Pamfil.

End to end action and two goals in the first 6 minutes of the second half suggested that this game was going to produce plenty of goals; Hesketh Bank turned up to the game with 11 players 2 of whom were goalkeepers after players were unavailable due to different reasons. Manager James Smith away with family commitments and coach Morgan Dodgson away on holiday left assistant Jamie Johnson on his own but was unable to do even that as Adam Goldfarb and Josh Dunroe rang up 30 minutes before kick off that they are unavailable cutting down the numbers from 14 to 12 with Josh Roberts stuck in traffic leaving Johnson having to take up the central midfield role with sub keeper Wiktor Pamfil ready to start up front with only 5 minutes till kick off. Fortunately, Roberts arrived in time for kick off and started the game. The game saw the memories flash back to the 1990's as Vaughan Birkby took over as manager for the game alongside chairman Paul Sergeant. Radoslav Ivanov made his first appearance since the opening day of the season coming in at right back.

On a sunny afternoon it was Hesketh who got the game under way and pressured the Garstang goal on a few occasions. Garstang took the lead after 26 minutes as Max Landless slotted past the helpless Singleton. Singleton then saved a free kick from Garstang skipper Conor Crossley to prevent it from being 2-0. However, 2 Liam Breslin goals before half-time sent the host into the break 3-0. A strong team talk followed as heads went down. The goal for second half was to score a goal and if Hesketh got one then they'd probably get the second. 4 minutes into the second half and a corner from Jamie Johnson found the head of STEAD who headed in to give Hesketh a life line. Brierley was the fouled by Crossley inside the penalty area 3 minutes later and STEAD once again scored and in the blink of an eye it was 3-2. Another goal and mission impossible is accomplished. Hogg had a goal disallowed for a foul in the box and was then twice denied by the young Garstang stopper who kept his side in the lead. Garstang got their fourth after Singleton dropped a corner at the feet of Alex Hay who smashed in from close range on 77 minutes.

On Saturday 5th September Hesketh Bank will visit Thornton Cleveleys who beat them earlier this season. Kick off is at 3.00pm.
