Membership

Do you know just what privileges are attached to your membership? (Other than the obvious privilege of being able to wear the jersey and play a sport you love rather than going shopping with the missus?) If you think about it, your membership allows you:

  • the right to vote at the A.G.M.
  • the right to stand for office
  • the right to apply for international tickets
  • priority booking for club functions
  • RFU insurance
  • 5% discount in club shop (on purchases over £20)*
  • access to bar
  • access to the services of resident Personal Trainer John Cammish - who will even give you a discount off his normal fees!

*Club shop available online mid 2012.

Match day Subs

Annual membership fees and match day subs do not pay players to play; nor do they line the pockets of the chairman and committee. The chairman and committee are stupid enough to do their roles for no money and very little thanks.

Match day subs cover the cost of the following:

  • the cleaning of your team’s strip
  • the petrol expenses of members who drive to away matches
  • referees’ fees for home matches
  • the traditional pint (or two) for the man of the match
  • the cost of rewarding the ladies who do the meals at home matches with a drink to thank them for their (unpaid) time
  • countless other expenses that are incurred by the club in providing you with the facilities to play.

Where does the rest come from?

As you may gather, the annual subs and match day subs do not provide the riches some might believe they do.

In order to give you somewhere to play, socialise and exercise your democratic right to moan (only once your subs have been paid though) the club also has to cover the following costs (to name a few):

  • the floodlights you train under
  • the changing room you arse about in
  • the pitch you play on
  • the strips you play in
  • the balls you play with
  • the water bottles you drink from
  • the Physios who patch you up
  • the hot showers and massive hot bath that clean you up
  • the bar staff who serve you
  • the heated, well lit bar you sit in
  • the TV you watch in that bar (soon to include Sky Sports)

need we go on?

These costs are generally payable whether you, as an individual, are there or not.

To meet these costs, the club has to rely on the people mentioned in various places on this site and those people who pay to have their names put next to a fixture that you may well be playing in ... the Sponsors.

We are a small club; our sponsors are, by and large, small businesses. They pay varying amounts from the small to the very generous. However large or small the amount, the money they put towards the club is what keeps us afloat.

Many of them do it because they are, or once were, players. None of them do it to make a fortune.

For those reasons, we ask only a couple of things from our members:

  • pay your Annual Membership on time and with the community spirit you think the club deserves
  • pay your Match day subs, knowing what good value they are
  • support our sponsors with your business whenever you can

We cannot please all the people all the time.

A great number of people help out the club in a number of different ways ranging from giving their time to the running of the club to using their occupational skills and/or business for the benefit of the club at much reduced rates.

One way to get your voice heard is to get involved. Offer your time to come and see what happens behind the scenes and put in the effort to make a difference to your club.

If there are things you want to change or want us to start doing – tell us! But make sure you also tell us where the money would come from to do the things you want us to and be prepared to lend a hand in doing them.
