First Team v Norwich United
Point at Plantation Park
Swifts travelled up to Plantation Park, Norwich for this crucial League One North fixture and started brightly against a side hoping for a play off place in their first season in the division.
Swifts had a penalty appeal turned down early on when a cross from Jusuff appeared to bounce up and strike the home centre half Shaun Wone's arm. Swifts soon put that behind them and took the lead on 13 minutes when Reece Grant headed in from close range when Phil Anderson headed on a George Cole corner. As has happened so many times this season though, Swifts conceded soon after when winger Tim Henry curled in an excellent right wing shot with his left foot that deceived Lewis Moore.
Swifts' tempo and link up play was excellent and they then took the league on 19 minutes when Grant netted after following up a good save by home keeper Wilton from a Yusuff strike. Swifts were looking good value for their lead but held it for only 10 minutes when the home side were awarded a penalty for dangerous kicking against Cawley and Liam Jackson slotted home confidently.
Swifts lost Cole through injury in the second half, replaced by Godbold and pushed hard for a winner. Bringing on veteran midfielder Glen Little also brought further chances but the all important winner did not come and both sides seemed disappointed with the draw at the end of the game.
