Storm Bears Rolls In and Cropredys DeFENCE Is Blown Away!
The Golden Bears arrived in Cropredy this week tasked with winning the reverse fixture of last weeks 2-1 win.
In difficult conditions, Heyford came out with strong intensity, looking to press Cropredy all over the park. They were a goal to the good when Steve Roberts split the defence to free Callum Lloyd who rounded the keeper and popped in his 19th goal of the season ⚽️. It was two soon after when Rhys Jenkins threaded the ball through to Danny Green who also rounded the keeper to double Heyford's lead⚽️. The game became patchy thereafter and the stop-start nature of the game made it difficult for The Bears to establish any rhythm. Not pointing any FINGERS (Jack Evans).
HT 0 - 2
Last week, Heyford played well for 55 minutes, this week they would need to keep it up for a lot longer to shake Cropredy. This was helped early doors when the omni-excellent Dan Savin played in Steve Roberts who helped himself to his 3rd goal of the season and Heyford's 3rd of the game⚽️. The 3 goal cushion gave The Bears some freedom to play some tidy football, unhindered by the fear of a comeback. A Callum Lloyd crossed was turned in by a Cropredy head to make four on the hour mark and Heyford looked home and dry⚽️. Substitute Kieran Chambers made it 5 with decent finish from 20 yards after fellow sub Rob Muddle's hard work⚽️.
The train rolls on with Heyford now on 41 points with a +43 goal difference as we approach the run in. A good goalscoring display and solid work from the defence puts us in a good position going into next weeks quarter final.
Special mention has to go to the Ultras this week who turned out in force for an away fixture that makes it ever the more special. An attendance of above 40 (if you include Kerry Gardner's dog) is a phenomenal effort that easily beats the following of any club locally, including those in leagues higher than us. It's this show of support that makes this club a very special place to play football and the players appreciate it massively.
