Highland U18 46 v Caithness U18 10
With Mackie calling off our planned league game we had the potential of an idle weekend ahead of our difficult away game to Deeside next week.
Luckily Caithness stepped in to give us opposition for the day.
A competitive game ensued where we ran out winners by 46-10 scoring 4 tries in each half. Caithness acquitted themselves well making us work for all our scores and crossing our line for 2 of their own.
It was the perfect opportunity to give our younger players 70 mins, one which on the whole they handled well. Coaches will certainly have selection headaches ahead of next weeks pivotal game – who to leave out when so many put their hands up for inclusion.
Oscar Baird excelled in the forwards and was rewarded with his 1st try for the club. Liam Quinn and Josef Cribb also putting in good shifts. Ali Fraser also notched his 1st try for the club reward for his efforts over the season.
Scores were as follows:
Jack Sutherland 1T, Oscar Baird 1T, Scott Fraser 1T,2C, Ali Fraser 1T, Ross Martin 1T,Jonny Milton 1T, Steven Rutledge 1T, James Murray 1T, Rory Carson 1C.
So off to Deeside next weekend with an early 11am KO to allow us to go to Scotland v Tonga game in Aberdeen in the afternoon.
