It was a busy weekend of rugby at Canal Park.
After the success of the First team, U18s and the U16s on Saturday it was the turn of the younger age groups on Sunday.

With the October holidays depriving the S1s of several players, we were very fortunate to have the services of the primary 7 to step in.

In a very even contest it was Gordonstoun who started the brighter, putting us under pressure. This resulted in two tries for them before Highland woke up and started to pass the ball into space, giving us a couple of tries to finish the first third all square.

Highland made some tactical changes and also introduced the primary sevens at the restart. We pushed Ruaridh Thomas from stand-off to his normal position of inside centre giving him more freedom to run at their defence. While this gave us more go forward and two more tries, we were still struggling with Gordonstouns big number twelve. He managed to put some big hits in and was hard to stop, helping them match us in the score.

The final third was more of the same with both sides fighting hard to win the game. When Roddy MacGregor went over with only minutes remaining, Highland felt the job was done. Unfortunately Gordounstone had other ideas and straight from the restart broke up field to score in the corner and tie the game at 18 all.

With such an entertaining game a draw was a fair result. Many thanks to Gordonstoun for coming through and to Gus, Logan, Derry and Roddy from the primary sevens for stepping up and putting in an excellent performance.
