Highland S1s win in Thurso
A solid performance from Highland S1s up in Thurso
On a cold but dry day it was Highland that started the game stronger running in three tries from Jamie Carson, Struan Gardner and Zander Dey before Thurso responded with one of their own. Highland were finding a lot of space out wide and extended their lead with tries from Aiden Smart, Paddy MacInnes and a second for Struan.
It was more of the same in the second half with Jamie getting his second then Ritchie Dinnes capping off an excellent debut by getting a hat trick. Cameron Kent finished off our scoring with a run from deep going the length of the pitch. With the wind in our favour for the second half Jamie had an easier time with the goal kicks getting us five conversions. All credit to Thurso they never gave up and were rewarded with a late consolation try.
With Thurso committing too many players to the break down Highland exploited the space out wide but we still need to work on our first up tackles and defence as there will be tougher tests to come.
Many thanks to the boys who showed commitment and travelled to Caithness Also to Thurso for their hospitality after the game.
Next game should be Dundee Eagles at home Sunday 17th.
