Double Game Trip to Dundee

On Sunday Highland's U14's travelled to Dundee and the squad played two games against Carnoustie and Dundee Eagles.

HRFC 25 v Carnoustie 0

Highland played Carnoustie at Dundee and sealed a comfortable victory. Andrew Gray opened the account with a try under the posts which was soon followed by the second, a result of clever stealing of the ball in the opposition half by Fraser Maclennan who sprinted 50 metres to score under the posts. Hamish McColm made a good dart foward to the Carnoustie 22 metre line. Good tackles were also made by Tommy and Bennie in the second half.

Try Scorers: F. Maclennan (2), A. Gray (1), C. Fraser (2), C. Hunter (1)

HRFC 0 v Dundee Eagles 21

Highland kicked off in mild conditions and quickly put the Dundee defence on the back foot on the 10 metre line. However, a lack of organisation at the breakdown lead to the Dundee first try. A second soon followed with the Dundee players out sprinting a disorganised back line and scoring out wide and a subsequent breakaway try made three for the home side. In the second half a try was saved by Fraser M who held the ball up after Dundee looked certain to score under the posts.

Highland were pedestrian at the breakdown with many players in static and poor body positions at the ruck. The Dundee back row had a very solid game. This was the U14s first full 15 a-side match with players in new positions. Plenty to work on at training particularly organisation, support play and decision making.
