It's with great sadness that we have to pass on the news of the death of club stalwart George Barrie.
George was a long-time supporter of Highland and although latterly he was only an Honorary President it was during the 60's and 70's that he made his biggest contribution. During that period he was instrumental in the success that was Highland's as they surged up through the leagues to Division 1. He attracted so many players of international class as well giving much to those youngsters coming up through the ranks. He did all of this while at the same time being an extremely successful accountant in the town.
George always tried to make it down to watch a game and he always had a smile and word for everyone. A true club legend he will be sorely missed.
His funeral will be this Saturday, 4th August at the Ness Bank Church at 10.00am. Club Chairman Andy Little is passing on a request from the family that all club members attending wear a club tie and make themselves available after the service to line up outside the church to pay their respects to George and to his family.
