Highland Start Strong, End Strong

2 months ago By Peter Martin

Highland ended up with a solid 45-20 victory over GHK at Canal Park, but it was after a wee dip in concentration in the second-half.

Highland well from the start and did well against a very capable GHK side who never gave up for the full eighty minutes. The visitors were on the scoreboard first with a penalty before Highland got into their stride with two tries.

The game was leaning towards the home team, but any mistakes were pounced on by GHK and a try in reply narrowed Highland's lead before another two home tries gained the bonus point and suggest the win was in the bag by the break.

Yet after the break GHK battled hard and it was Highland who lost their way slightly to give away a couple of easy scores. The home support were feeling a bit nervous at this stage. However, Highland got back on track to run in another two tries to seal the victory.

Meanwhile at the Naval Ground Highland's 2nd XV had to battle hard against a stubborn Ross Sutherland before winning 27-22 and secure Group One of the Brin Cup.
