One Point From Promotion

3 months ago By Peter Martin

Highland are on the threshold of promotion after a 12-47 victory away at Haddington.

Elsewhere in the division Newton Stewart had a 5-35 victory at Hillhead Jordanhill which means they can draw level with Highland if they beat St Boswells. However, Highland have a better points difference and they play St Boswells first, next Saturday at Canal Park.

To guarantee promotion Highland just need one point from that last game with two or more meaning they go up as champions. Get next Saturday organised so you don't miss out on one heck of a match to end the league season.

Back at Canal Park Highland's 2nd XV put a big dent in Ellon's title hopes with a tough 36-27 victory. Highland now top their league, but having played all of their fixtures it remains to be seen who will win the fight to pass them Ellon or Garioch. A great match for the home crowd and for Simon Stephen who has now hung up his boots.

Where next?

George Barnes Sad news to report, the recent passing of former Highland player and captain George Barnes.
Another Win Please! The exciting climax of Highland’s season is so close and it looks very much like promotion and possibly the title as well.
