The best way to keep up to date with Highland RFC

Training Defeat Gives Inspiration

8 years ago By Peter Martin

The Greens had a training match against RAF Lossiemouth tonight and went down 3-18 with only five regulars in the eighteen man squad.

However Coach Hugh Mackintosh was well pleased by the efforts of the fringe players that made up the bulk of the team. It‘s quite possible that three players carrying injuries will be given the chance to rest up, Tam Magowan, Ross Temple and Matt Thompson. This will mean a good number of debuts in the Greens as well as the promise of some positional changes.

The coaching team are keen to refresh the squad and give it some edge to cut out the errors and lack of application that is costing the team wins.

The club are finalising an agreement with RAF Lossiemouth to see some of their best players feed into Highland and the match gave the coaches the opportunity to view those players. They will have limited availability before Christmas but will likley be fully available in the New Year.

Where next?

Competition For Places Existing Highland players and new recruits have struck up healthy competition for places.
Team to take on Murrayfield Wanderers at Murrayfield Highland will be looking to add to their two previous bonus point wins in a difficult fixture down in the Capital.
