U15 Squad maintain unbeaten record
The U15 squad continued their solid start to the season with a resounding win over Gordonstoun on Wednesday evening. The team, keen to consolidate their top of the table position, started well and dominated through out. Bruce Flockhart opened the scoring in the first few minutes and was quickly followed by Harrison Wright and Hamish Hepburn. The ball was been moved around well and Gordonstoun struggled to contain both the pack and the hard running backs. Harrison added his second try on the 15 minute mark and Highland were pretty much in control. The first half was prematurely halted after a second Flockhart try, converted by Seamus Ross. In the lead up to the try a Gordonstoun player was hurt in a ruck, he unfortunately suffered a nasty lower leg injury and half time was called as we awaited an ambulance to transport him to hospital.
Half time score:
Highland 27 Gordonstoun 0
After some delay the game restarted and Highland did well not to let the extended break affect there concentration. Johnny Grant who had already made a number of strong breaks finally burst through for the first score of the half, again converted by Seamus. Gordonstoun dug deep but it was really one way traffic with Bruce soon notching his third try of the evening.
Some nice play by Gordonstoun saw them break powerfully down the wing and what looked like a certain score was stopped by a fantastic covering tackle from Steven Grant at full back. More Highland pressure saw Gordonstoun carry the ball over their line and touch it down. The resultant 5 meter scrum saw a nice interchange between 8 & 9 and Fionnlagh Call touched down. Seamus Ross finished the scoring, latching on to his own kick he scored under the posts and calmly converted. That took the lead past the 50 point mark and the ref called time.
