With the New Year nearly upon us this is a good time to reflect on the first half of the season.
With 25 league games played and 13 remaining the First team sit top of the Hellenic Premier League with 66 points, a goal difference of 60 with 21 wins, 3 draws and a solitary loss to Wantage Town. Our tally of 87 goals scored is the highest at step 5 in the country. No counting chickens yet though as we have yet to play 3 of the current top 5 in Thatcham Town and Flackwell Heath (both Home) and Bracknell Town (Home & Away) but all to play for.
We reached the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Cup beating London Colney in a replay before unluckily losing at home to Marlow.
In the FA Vase victories over Easington Sports and before a disappointing home defeat to Sholing.
We lost on penalties away at Shrivenham in the Hellenic Challenge Cup 2nd round after previously beating Tytherington Rocks at home. We await to see who we will play in the Supplementary Cup.
We remain in the Hellenic Floodlit Cup with Royal Wootton Bassett Town due to visit the Elms on Weds 10th January.
We have reached the semi final of the Wilts FA Senior Cup and will learn our opponents in early January with the semi final to be played on a neutral ground in mid March. Others left in are Chippenham Town, Salisbury FC and Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
As ever all support is welcome both home and away
Happy New Year
