Hinckley RFC has been awarded the status of an O2 Touch Centre to enable the continued expansion of Touch Rugby within England

Broadening the reach and appeal of rugby through Touch is one of the key focus areas for the RFU to create a lasting legacy for the sport in the build up to and beyond the Rugby World Cup (RWC) in 2015. The RFU, working with O2, is committed to establishing 75 new O2 Touch Centres by June 2013 and a further 100 during 2013/14.

Hinckley RFC has been awarded O2 Touch Centre status. Touch sessions will be available in different locations through the year however will start in Earl Shilton at William Bradford Community College on the Astro Turf at 8.00pm on Wednesday 26th February 2014.

The sessions will be open to anyone (male and female) over 16 years old. The sessions will be ran by Blaine Bonin-Ward who has just returned from a rugby and touch hotbed in the universities of Wales and Vicky Macqueen who played 20 times for England Ladies where Touch was a key aspect of training. Managing the whole affair will be Hinckley RFC's Social Rugby Chairman Mark Ward who will ensure everything is running smoothly.

On the quiet Mark said, "the wife banned me from playing anymore rugby on my 50th birthday however she has said that I can play touch so I can't wait to get involved. All are welcome from an ex-player to a total novice, we can cater for all and are 2 coaches will be fantastic".

So let's get fit, keep fit and have some fun!!
