Tom Atkins Former Hinckley RFC Captain Passes Away

Funeral to Be Held on 31st May 2017

Tom Atkins, former Hinckley 1st Team Captain passed away on Wednesday 17th May 2017 aged 81. Known as a leader of men, Tom lived life to the full both on and off the field. As well as a rugby player, he was also part of the Atkins Brothers Hosiery dynasty founded in 1722 that was a FTSE 100 company during the 60s, 70s and 80s. He was the final family member retire from the company.

His leadership on the field during the early 1960s laid the foundations to a golden era in Hinckley's pre-league history. Notably, he also had unique fire extinguishing skills and methods of transport up and down Castle Street especially late on Saturday night!

His funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Wednesday 31st May at St Michael's Church, Newnham, Northamptonshire NN11 3ET nr Daventry followed by a get together befitting the man at the Romer Arms Public House, Newnham.

Family, friends and club representatives are all welcome.
