Hindley come from behind to beat neighbours Bridge

by David Bowery

Hindley welcomed local rivals Ince Rose Bridge down to the pavilion on a very chilly and wet sunday morning. Conditions weren't the best, but both teams put on a good display of rugby league. This classic derby game resulted in Hindley coming out on top i

A shaky start to the game resulted in Bridge crossing the white wash first after an early knock on from Hindley, in their first set from kick off.

The Hindley squad were fuming with themselves for letting Bridge score, which, as coaches, is what we love to see. After re-grouping, Hindley played some fantastic rugby and started to get the ball out wide through several sets of hands resulting in a couple of well worked tries.

Even in the wet and slippy conditions Hindley took the Rose Bridge defence on with some good ball work, drawing the defence and passing out wide to utilise the whole width of the field.

Credit to the Rose Bridge team though, they gave as good as they got, forcing Hindley into making a couple of errors and capitalising on this by running in 16 points in the first half. Hindley scored again just before the half time whistle, taking the lead going into the half time break.

After emphasising the need to close down the 2 Rose Bridge danger men, Hindley came back out in the second half fired up and ready to show their opponents what they're made of.

Hindley's determination showed, in their first set they put on a great display of power and skill to get up field and cross the line for a well worked team try.

Some solid defence from Hindley prevented Rose Bridge from scoring until late on in the second half, but once again the well organised play from the Hindley team and some good passing and support play proved to much for the Rose Bridge side.

The final try of the game came from Hindley just before the full time whistle, which sealed the game.
