Hindley head the game without water (bottles)
A superb opening game for the 11s against a tough and no-nonsense Waterhead outfit. In freezing conditions and a very heavy pitch, they battled hard and came away with the spoils.
Given the conditions, including a snow shower in the opening stanza, this was never going to be a classic, fast-moving game, and the game was ultimately won in the forwards.
Hindley lead the game at the break 6-0 up following a great effort from Etahn Hill, but Waterhead came out at the start of the second the stronger side. Try as they might, they could not cross the whitewash, following some robust defence from the 11s.
Hindley effectively killed off the game with two efforts from Ethan Yates, the second a cheeky score under the uprights when the Waterhead attack knocked-on right on their own line.
Coaches Dave and Gary continue to rotate the kickers with Sam Fitton (1) and Jamie Duffy (2) getting the extras.
Waterhead never gave up and with both teams getting tired and quite frankly, covered from head to toe in mud, their efforts were rewarded as they scored on the very last play of the game.
More can be done in attack from the 11s, but defensively, it was a sterling effort from the lads and lass today. Also good to see was Bradley Mosedale making his debut, carrying the ball up strongly.
Thanks to Waterhead for a great game played in the bests of spirits.

Neil Wheeler 07966 451 531 - 1 year agoWell done to all at Hindley for the win today. Great game in terrible conditions, sorry we couldn't give you a warm welcome! It is always a few degrees colder on that hill! Both teams were a credit to rugby league today. See you in 2 weeks!
Jon Mosedale - 1 year agoWell played all the Hindley boys. Tough conditions but the training is paying off.
Grahame Bentley - 1 year agoWell played lads, always a tough place to go and grind out a win in poor conditions. Sometimes you have to win ugly. It sounds like you are a team who can play a tough game and win.
nathan fittton - 1 year agoout standing from all keep it up
