With several changes to last week's starting XI, Hindley started well by containing the Reds in their own half of the pitch but were unable to capitalise on this field position due to several handling errors that littered the opening 10 minutes.

As the game entered the second quarter Hindley began to control the ball much better whilst still forcing mistakes from the opposition. The home side found themselves in a good attacking position thanks to strong running from the forwards who were rotated on a regular basis. David Bullough, Jak Kellet and Sam Bowery's strong running laid the platform for Dan Goulbourne to open the scoring for the Black & Golds, posting his first try in Hindley colours since he joined the club in March. Joe Sumner added the extra two points.

The two teams exchanged sets of six with some strong defence, Tom Peters and Danny Carroll standing out for Hindley with aggresive, copybook tackling. Hindley's expansive play could've resulted in tries for Andrew Wilkinson and Bowery but both were caught by the Reds after some flowing rugby led by Reece Cassidy and Connor Aspey.

It was largely thanks to a tremendous run by Carroll that allowed Hindley to extend their lead on the stroke of half time. Carroll ran the ball down the right edge, shrugging off several Reds defenders on his way and, just as the cover defence approached 10 metres from the try line, he picked out the supporting Kian Longton with great pass to allow the centre to score in the corner. Unfortunately, Carroll was unable to convert the try.

The half time discussion centred around increasing the defensive effort and maintaining focus on the '0' target that was set following the Chorley Panthers game last weekend.

The Reds started the second half on the front foot by collecting their own kick-off as the Hindley players were caught napping. The Black & Golds were able to withstand the pressure on their own line and were soon on the attack once again.

Solid hit-ups from Connor Bishop, Connell Essex Collier as well as Carroll and Bullough gave the opportunity for the ball to be spread to the right wing where Ben Parry impressively finished off a great move for his first try as a Hindley player and he celebrated in style with his team-mates! Recce Cassidy was successful with the boot to further extend the lead.

Hindley were now enjoying themselves and a great bit of unselfish play by Carroll brought them their fourth try of the game. Carroll ran across the Reds line like a half back before finding the supporting Bishop who scored the 4-pointer - a great example of team play and, again, what can be achieved by simply backing up the player with the ball. Peters was just off the mark with his conversion attempt.

The final Hindley try came from Connor Aspey who showed brilliant footwork as he opened the Reds defence down the middle with ease. Aspey added the extras himself from in front.

As the game was drawing to a close Hindley were on track to hit their pre-game target but thanks to repeat sets for the Reds (offsides aplenty!) and a minor lapse on defence allowed the visitors to score in the right hand corner.

Man of the Match - Danny Carroll. Week in, week out he demonstrates a great attitude and today showed another quality by setting up team-mates for tries. Well done, Danno!

Top Tackler - Tom Peters. Smashed his way through the game, always gives his all every week...he'd tackle a tank! Great stuff, Tom!

Most Improved - Jak Kellet and Sam Bowery. Both lads have been 'threatening' to play like this for a couple of weeks.
Both gave their all, on attack and defence, and left the field soaking with sweat but with huge smiles on their faces. Well done, lads!
