Membership
Listed below is some useful information about the Netball DSA and what to expect as a DSA member.
HKNA LEAGUE GAMES
All games take place on a Monday evening at either 7pm, 8pm or 9pm lasting for approximately 1 hour. It is suggested that you are ready and warmed up at courts approximately 15 minutes before the start of your game as there is very little time between each match. The start date for the league is usually mid October and the season will usually run until April/May on all Mondays, that are not Public Holidays and during holiday periods eg. Xmas and Easter. These dates will be confirmed via email and on the HKFC Netball web site as soon as they are confirmed by the HKNA.
HONG KONG NETBALL ASSOCIATION (HKNA) UMPIRE REQIREMENTS
A league handbook detailing the times of all games will be distributed to each player at the beginning of the season. As part of your commitment to both the HKFC and HKNA, you are required to attend an umpiring course and theory examination to become a badged umpire. This will not only help in the organising of the league, but also, help improve the level of play achieved as you become more aware of the rules. You will not be able to umpire if you do not attend and as such as part of your commitment as HKFC Netball DSA supported members and members of your teams you are EXPECTED to ensure this occurs and you are qualified to umpire.
NETBALL DSA MEMBERSHIP
Netball is just one of the many sports that take place within the HKFC and last season we had more than 60 members playing in 5 teams. As part of our commitment to the HKFC, members are required to give a minimum of 4 full years of commitment from time of HKFC approval, (this means if your membership is approved in the December after playing for 3 months your commitment period starts from the December and will not be completed until half way through your 5th playing season) which includes a minimum attendance rate of 80% at all training sessions and games. Attendance during the season is continually monitored and proposal for your continued membership is at the discretion of the Team captains and HKFC Committee. If you have not met the minimum attendance requirements (as outlined above), your membership will be reviewed and may be revoked. We do, however, understand that there are occasional times when you cannot make either games or training; in these instances please inform your Team captain in advance when you cannot attend and the reason why. If it is going to be for an extended period of time, then please submit a letter to the Netball Committee.
Process for membership review:
Pregnant and injured players are required to fulfill the 80% membership commitment by attending games and the compulsory social events (you are not required to attend trainings). If you fall below 80% attendance you will be contacted by the attendance officer. If you are or become pregnant during the season contact your coach and team captain and continue to attend your team's games in order to support them and help with scoring. (We feel this is fair for pregnant players as other clubs in Hong Kong in fact put memberships on hold during the pregnancy period and add this time commitment once they return to play to their membership). If you become injured before or during the season inform your coach and team captain and continue to attend your team's games in order to support them, help with scoring, and if possible, umpiring. If an injury lasts 3 or more months you need to discuss with your coach and team captain the extent of the injury, other opportunities for supporting your team and the Netball DSA during your extended injury, and the likelihood that time will be added to your 4-year commitment.
2010/2011 NETBALL FEES
Monthly Levy: Each member of the Netball DSA will be charged a monthly netball levy of $50. This cost will cover your individual HKNA registration fees, your HKNA team registration fee, cost of your kit and subsidies for certain social events and tours. This levy will be directly debited each month from your HKFC account. The total cost has been pro-rated on a yearly basis so this levy is charged throughout the entire year, not just in the netball season.
Coaching Fees: At present we have employed 2 coaches to coach the 5 existing netball teams. The coaching fees will be $250 per person per month and this amount will also be directly debited from your HKFC account. This fee is only charged during the netball season from September - April (or whenever the coaching finishes). Coaching fees for sports preferred members who are still under commitment, and whom are pregnant or carrying a long term injuries (unable to play for 1 month or more), will be charged a monthly ''non-playing coaching fee'' of $100. Injured or pregnant players who have fulfilled their commitment or who are not sports preferred members will not be charged coaching fees during that time. Please notify the membership officer Marie Farry directly as soon as possible and she will notify HKFC to amend the coaching fees to your account accordingly.
Fees for New Members: All players representing the HKFC Netball DSA must become members. In order to retain your membership you must continue to play netball for the HKFC for 4 consecutive seasons and show at least 80% attendance at matches, trainings and socials. You will also be expected to utilise the food and beverage outlets (restaurant, coffee shop etc) at the Club. The following are the HKFC non-refundable/non-transferable fees that apply for membership:

If you have any ''netball related info'' that you would like to be included on the notice board or in the monthly HKFC magazine, please speak to Emma Noonan our Publicity Officer. The schedule of social events and committee notices will also be posted on the Netball notice board. In addition to the notice board we also have our own Web site. Again if you have announcements and info that you would like to be included please contact our webmaster, Ellen Flaherty.
SOCIALS
