The League Cup
Boston Town 0
Holbeach United 2
Holbeach progressed in the League Cup with a dominant display away from home.
The scoreline, if anything, flatters the opposition as the Tigers missed some excellent chances to underline their dominance still further. But credit where it’s due, Town battled right until the end, and were actually the better team for the first 10 minutes until Jordan Thomas scored against the run of play in the 13th minute.
Adam Eyett put the result beyond doubt with a superb 77th minute goal and Drury made a great save late on to make sure Holbeach kept a clean sheet.
Treacher, Tidswell and Ford all went close in a game which saw Ollie Pinner get a run out in the dying minutes – a welcome return for the Tigers.
Both Adam and Nick Jackson gave slid displays on a night which also marked Jack Smith’s return to the field as a late sub.
To say it was a feisty affair is an underestimate, but the away squad managed to keep calm and get the job done in a well-disciplined and workman-like fashion.
