Holbeach’s impressive pre-season continued with a dominant four-nil win over Wisbech St Mary
The hastily-arranged away fixture, after the home game was cancelled, was played in the blazing sun, but that didn’t deter the Tigers; their players impressing, despite the conditions.
Josh Ford and Jordan Thomas grabbed scored one each in the first half – working well together for both goals.
Holbeach were strong in defence too. When St Mary did catch a sight of goal, their shooting prowess let them down.
The second half saw Tidswell got close a couple of times before he netted twice to bring the Tigers’ tally to four without reply. Dan Dougall almost made it five, and he put in an impressive workman-like shift which saw St Mary stretched to the limit at the back.
While the opposition was no push-over, the gulf in class was apparent from the word go and Holbeach thoroughly deserved the victory.
The Tigers face Whittlesey Athletic in their first home match of the pre-season on Tuesday night at 7.45pm.
